One of the large set pieces for 'Miss Universe' held in Miami, 1984. Designed by Don Shirley, a classy veteran production designer.
I'm on the right with an airgun, my old pal Leon Wiesener is on the left.
We are sweating bullets getting stuff finished off. We were both
art directors and scenics on this massive project. Afterwards, the crew loaded all the sets on a semi in Tampa---drove to Miami. When it got to the loading docks in Miami, the 'union' crew destroyed/damaged most of it.
We had to fly down, stay up extra hours to repair sets.
From 1983-84 I worked on five Miss Universe Projects, including Miss U.S.A and Miss Teen U.S.A.
