On the left is my old pal, great friend, former screenwriting partner, hunting/fishing buddy, collaborator with books, etc., Mr. Don Webster. This was a celebration of his life/80th birthday party on Oct. 14, 2023 in Riverbank, CA. We met in 1985 while working on the feature film, 'Valentino Returns'. Starring Frederic Forrest, Veronica Cartwright, Jenny Wright and Barry Tubb. The film was shot in and around Stockton, Tracy, and Newman, CA. Screenplay by Stockton native Leonard Gardner, author of the acclaimed book and film, 'Fat City', directed by John Huston. Don is the author of several books, which includes 'Bury Me in my Waders'. I was happy to design the cover and carve and print twenty plus linocuts as illustrations.
Frankly, I was just happy to be there. I had just come off of a year of chemo fighting the big 'C' and sooooo.....the chemo had turned all my hair grey....but hell, just to be walking around and seeing old friends was such a delight. So to celebrate I drove 150 miles in my late brother's old Ford truck and wore my cool camouflage jacket and Johnson Motor Co. custom T-shirt.
