Buzzy was a third year graduate student in the
fine arts department when I arrived in Knoxville in the fall of 1979.

She was all about animals, expecially horses. She trained
horses, rode horses, drew and painted horses. She even had
her own horse 'Joanie' available in a nearby stable. She was a
creative, determined printmaker under the tutelage of one
extraordinary printmaker and legendary teacher, the late great
Byron McKeeby.

Great art concerns itself not with art, but with awakening the human consciousness to itself.
— Byron McKeeby

In the early Eighties, fine art college teaching jobs were like
trying to find hen's teeth with a transistor radio. See what I did there,
mixing up silly cliches....what better way to say that it was almost
impossible. That said, Buzzy was so good, she was immediately hired at Slippery Rock State College in Butler, PA.
The next year she was off to Minnesota State University, Moorhead,
where she taught Printmaking, Drawing and Bronze casting from 1982-2003.
