'Sitting Nude Man', etching, Kathe Kollwitz (1867-1945). Printed posthumously c. 1946, unsigned with blind print stamp, AVD BECKE, Muenchen 22. This was given to me by my old pal/art buddy, Leon Wiesener. The print is in rough shape, foxing/acid/surface marks. It's got enough problems to make my teeth itch, but still, I am elated to have a Kollwitz print in my collection, I've always loved her work. I was fortunate many years ago to see an tremendous exhibition of her work at Stanford University. She originally drew this image on a plate in 1891 at the age of 24.
